What personal data do we collect and for what purpose?
Personal data is any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes information such as your real name, address, telephone number, and date of birth. Information that cannot be linked to your real identity is not considered personal data; this includes, for example, the number of users of a website or similar aggregated data.
When you visit our website, you do not need to provide any personal information. We only store access data, as described below, or data that you provide to us. This data is stored and analyzed solely for the purpose of optimizing our website. This also constitutes our legitimate interest in data processing (Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR). The collected data is not linked to specific individuals. We do not combine the collected data with data from other sources. Your data is protected in accordance with legal regulations.
Legal basis for data processing
When processing your personal data that we need to fulfill a contract with you, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR serves as the legal basis for the data processing. This also includes processing operations that serve to carry out pre-contractual measures.
If we are obliged to process personal data to comply with a legal obligation, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(c) GDPR.
Insofar as the processing of your personal data is carried out to protect a legitimate interest of ours or a third party, and none of your interests, fundamental rights or freedoms override this legitimate interest, the data processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
Insofar as we obtain your consent for the processing of personal data, the legal basis for this data processing is Article 6(1)(a) GDPR.
Access data
Each time a user accesses the Good Life Books & Media GmbH website, the following data is stored in a log file: the IP address of the requesting computer/device, data of the accessed page(s) or file(s), and, if applicable, the "saved" or selected content (if using the shopping cart function), the date and time of access, the amount of data transferred, a message indicating whether the access was successful, the access method/function requested by the computer, information about the type and version of the web browser used, the user's operating system, the referrer URL (the previously accessed website), and the requesting provider.
The storage of the aforementioned data serves legitimate internal system-related and statistical purposes (Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR). In the visitor statistics, the IP address, the accessed resource, and the time are stored and processed for statistical purposes. The IP address is then no longer visible in the statistics.
Collection and possible use of personal data within the group in connection with contact requests
Personal data is only collected if you provide it to us. The data you submit when contacting us will be processed and used exclusively for handling your inquiry and for communicating with you (Art. 6 (1) lit. b) GDPR).
We and, to the extent legally permissible, our group companies (VEMAG Verlags- und Medien AG, Emil-Hoffmann-Str. 1, 50996 Cologne, info@vemag-medien.de; Schwager & Steinlein Verlag GmbH, Emil-Hoffmann-Str. 1, 50996 Cologne, info@schwager-steinlein-verlag.de; Naumann & Göbel Verlag GmbH, Emil-Hoffmann-Str. 1, 50996 Cologne, info@naumann-goebel.de; Delphin Verlag GmbH, Emil-Hoffmann-Str. 1, 50996 Cologne, info@delphinverlag.de; Good Life Books & Media GmbH, Hoffmann-Str. 1, 50996 Cologne, info@goodlifebooks.de) have exclusive access to this data within the scope of our legitimate interest in cooperation and in compliance with applicable data protection law (Art. 6 (1) lit. f) GDPR).
This data will not be shared with third parties outside our group. Nor will our group companies store the data further. This applies to the email address you provide and, if you choose to provide it, also to any other data you provide, such as your name, address, and telephone number. If you send us files (e.g., photos), we will use them to process your request. In the case of complaints, this may also mean that the information is forwarded to manufacturers and suppliers and stored there to clarify and improve our products. You expressly consent to this in the event of a complaint (Art. 6 (1) lit. a) GDPR). However, even in this case, no personal data will be transferred to the manufacturers or suppliers. Furthermore, you warrant that you possess the necessary rights to the files you send us.
Forwarding to third parties
Our principles stipulate that no personal data about customers and users will be disclosed to third parties beyond what is described above. This also applies in the unlikely event of the transfer of shares or parts of the company.

Furthermore, we may also disclose your personal data to third parties if we are legally obligated to do so (Art. 6 (1) lit. c) GDPR), such as to authorities, courts, or victims, for example, in the case of a request for information or for defense in connection with an investigation or suspicion of a crime, unlawful act, or other conduct, if we have a legal order, a court decision, or an equivalent directive, or if we believe in good faith that the disclosure of the data is necessary to avert imminent danger to life, limb, or financial loss, or to report a suspected unlawful act.
In certain cases, data may be transferred to service countries located outside the EU or the EEA that do not have an adequate level of data protection (in particular, the USA), as described below. This is always done in accordance with applicable data protection law and with appropriate safeguards in place, such as, in particular, an effective EU-US Privacy Shield certification of the receiving US company or the conclusion of standard contractual clauses (Art. 46 GDPR). For a copy, especially of the standard contractual clauses, please contact: Good Life Books & Media GmbH, Emil-Hoffmann-Str. 1, 50996 Cologne, Germany, info@goodlifebooks.de.
