SUSTAINABILTY
What our books are made of,
how we achieve carbon neutrality
and how our afforestation scheme works.
PRODUCT MATERIALS
Paper:
We use a bright white recycled paper for our books, certified with: FSC®, Ecolabel, cradle to cradle and Blue Angel
Printing inks:
We print with cradle to cradle certified, mineral-oil-free, vegetable-oil-based inks.
The inks were developed for use on food packaging.
Laminate:
Our books receive a protective laminate during production.
This is mineral-oil-free, water-based and cradle to cradle certified.
Like the inks, the varnish was originally developed for food packaging.
Glue:
The glue is easy to detach from the paper during the subsequent recycling process and can be recycled separately.
CARBON NEUTRALITY
Although we pay special attention to minimising our ecological footprint when selecting the materials for our books, a small amount of CO₂-equivalents naturally remains due to the production of the paper, ink, laminate and glue, the energy consumption at the printer’s, and the transportation of the books to the warehouse.
However, to ensure that this is also offset, we invest in environmental protection projects by purchasing certificates in order to save as much CO₂ elsewhere as we consume during production.
To this end, we work together with ClimatePartner.
You can read about the project here.

AFFORESTATION IN GERMANY
Offsetting our emissions from production alone is not enough for us.
We would also like to give something back to our planet. So we donate an additional 10 cents per book produced to our partner Treemer, which in return plants trees in an afforestation area covering approx. 6,600 m² of the Bavarian countryside.
Planting takes place annually, according to the amount of money donated up to that point.
500 trees have already been planted, and with each new book there will be many more!
Look out for upcoming updates about our afforestation project on this site.
